Jay Thomas:Architect, Donor, Board Member, Volunteer, First Museum Member

“An ENCHANTMENT takes place here with little people that can’t be replicated. I can’t explain how it happens, but it happens every day.”

Jay Thomas is an architect and Easton resident.   Jay played a vital part in launching the Museum during its first years.   He’s been the Board chairman and member, donor, volunteer, carpenter, and is the Museum’s very first membership cardholder. Jay says, “I still hold the card that declares me member number one!”

Jay’s long involvement with the museum is in part due to a deep understanding of the positive benefits the Museum can have on entire families. He says, “from day one it’s occurred to me that the plight of a new mother is a bit of a struggle. It can be lonely, it can be isolating, particularly in a suburban community.

One of the Museum’s original intentions was to offer an outlet to reduce that isolation and find some common activity for the children and a social outlet for the mothers. For that purpose the Museum continues, at least in my observation, to perform that service better than anything I know of.”

Ultimately, Jay believes that the success of the museum is “…because of the way it connects to small people. An enchantment takes place here with little people that can’t be replicated. I can’t explain how it happens, but it happens every day.”
