Allison Perrier: 7th grade history teacher, former Museum staff member
"Every single square inch of the Museum is centered on learning. It’s where conversations and imaginations run wild for children and parents alike!”
"The Museum’s mission statement - to promote life long learning - is so important in the developmental process for children."
When Alison, who graduated from BSU with her masters in Teaching History in 2011, was asked about the Museum she was eager in her responses.
"The Museum turned out to be a dream summer job, which turned into a year long job! Even when I had graduated and started teaching full time, I found myself back there during the summer drop-in days, summer camps, and volunteering at the holiday shop."
Allison is always promoting the Museum! “I work with many mothers who are always talking in the lunch room about what to do with their young kids- and I chime in with the Museum! One of the first things I say is bring the camera, wear jeans (so they can play on the floor too!), and pack a snack - because you'll be there awhile and will need to refuel downstairs on the lunch tables! Then I'll add the great bits about the different exhibits and tell them to check out the Museum's website.”
"The main reason why I keep coming back here is because the Museum’s mission statement - to promote life long learning - is so important in the developmental process for children. Teaching children to use their imaginations, become active in their own educational wonderment, to ask questions, and interact with their peers all happens at this Museum. As a seventh grade teacher I can understand now, more than ever before, how having opportunities to explore, be inquisitive, and to create during the younger years helps to foster a natural curiosity for life."
