What better way to learn about science than by conducting experiments!  This traveling program will challenge your children's minds with exciting hands-on activities.  Your children will have so much fun, they won't even realize they are learning.

We believe in active participation and inquiry-based education.
We design our programs with national and state curriculum standards.
We teach kids that science is all around them

It's as easy as 1, 2, 3  You pick the type of program. Choose to have the CME crew during school hours, or arrange a science night for kids and their parents

1. Daytime Program   Geared for individual classes, these workshops are theme-based and are best in a classroom setting, where students can participate.
2.
Afternoon Programs  Ideal for organizations that wish to have the CME crew visit once or arrange scheduled weekly or monthly  workshops.
3. S
cience Nights  Host an evening event for kids and their parents to share in the learning.

It's a blast, and best of all, kids will learn!

Science Roadshow’s  activities are fun, challenging and interactive. They  encourage kids to ask questions.  Whichever theme you choose, you are guaranteed to have captive audiences and loads of participation.

Based on current curriculum All of the workshops are based on the Massachusetts Curriculum  Frameworks and are intended to supplement and enhance the learning experience through individual and group activities. It’s a truly positive experience with the reputation of The Children’s Museum in Easton behind it!

Kids will want to go home to test results    All of the workshops are done with basic household items, making science accessible to all children. The FETCH! Lab activity sheets are sent home, enabling the excitement in the classroom to be shared with parents.

Rates A typical program for one classroom of 20-25 students is $195. Travel rates apply. Included in the price are a Tips For Planning guide, a take-home activity sheet and a certificate of participation. Please call for an exact rate for your group, as length of program, number of participants and multiple same-day bookings will affect cost.

Booking a date  A 50% deposit holds your date, which can be put on a charge card or a check by mail

Got questions?  We’ve got answers!   If you need additional information, please don’t hesitate to call.  Don’t forget to check our website, childrensmuseumineaston.org, for pictures of our FETCH! Lab.

Program Themes

Build It!
Calling all engineers…guided by a CME staffer, design your own structures, test strength, height and stability while learning fundamentals of engineering in the process.
Technology and Engineering – 3-5: 2; Physical Science – PreK-2: 5

FETCH!
Ruff Ruffman has sent the Museum his craziest challenges and we can bring them to your classroom or group! Participants learn scientific principles through each of his outrageously fun challenges. Are you ready for some high energy fun-tastic learning?
Various frameworks met, varies with content of actual program

Forces and Energy
Explore the power of momentum, force of gravity, influence of friction and strength of air pressure in this popular workshop! With three different experiments, students will have time to explore contrasting forces and try variables to gain an understanding of forces and energy.
Physical Science – 3-5: 5; PreK-2: 3 & 4

Fossils
Examine what we can learn from fossils and step into the role of a paleontologist. Students will create layers of earth to see how fossils are formed, uncover “bones” and make and tell their own narrative from the tracks they create.
Earth & Soil – 3-5: 4; Life Science – PreK-2: 5

Physical Science – 6-8: 13; Physical Science – PreK-2: 4; various frameworks met, varies with content of actual program

Powerful Paper
It is so cool to think green. Most of us use paper every day. This workshop permits participants to discover the strength of paper, observe through experimentation the differences in qualities of paper, and why paper strength and absorbency influence how much we use. Students will discover how much fun paper can be – it isn’t just for writing.
Physical Science – PreK-2: 5

Strong Smart Me!
Everyday we make choices. Discover the basics of how to create simple, healthy meals to fuel our bodies, play some fun indoor games, and build a stronger body and mind. Learn small steps you can take to live a healthier life!
Physical Activities and Fitness – Pre-K-12: 2.1, 2.2, 2.5; Nutrition – Pre-K-12: 3.2, 3.6; Consumer Health and Resource Management – PreK-12: 12.6

Wonderful Water
Discover the power of filtration, create a water cycle to take home and learn some fascinating facts about water. We need water to survive; broaden your understanding of one of Earth’s resources.
Physical Science – 3-5; States of Matter – 3; Physical Science – PreK-2: 2

The Science Roadshow is run by the Children’s Museum in Easton and is partially based on the PBS kids’ show, Fetch! funded by the National Science Foundation. Our fun and energetic staffers engage the students in various activities. The skills of predicting, estimating, observing and analyzing—so fundamental in a child’s development—are delivered in a fresh, new way

This program is supported in part by a grant from Easton, Stoughton, Brockton, Foxboro and North Attleboro Cultural Centers, local agents, which are supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.
