Wondering about our outdoor installation? It was an idea conceived by Museum design and exhibit staffer, Mark Cuddy, and executed by students in Judith Murray-Smith’s art classes, Kreative Kids and Talented Teens. Initially created and installed over a year ago, it was updated with brand-new artwork during the summer of 2009.
The criteria for this project was strict. The fence would have to separate the parking lot from Museum pathway, it would have to be an indicator about what visitors could expect to find within the building, and yet it had to be moveable, to give us flexibility as far as placement.
Students spent an entire Sunday painting images of our visitors, working from some initial photos, but adding their own style and vision to the paintings. The result speaks for itself! The images display the beautiful diversity of our visitors and their families.
We are thrilled by this piece of public art, and we are proud of the artists that created it! Thank you!
